Indian Federation of App-based Transport Workers (IFAT) is the leading federation representing the rights and welfare of app-based transport and delivery workers across India. Founded to give a collective voice to the millions of gig workers who power platforms like Ola, Uber, Swiggy, Zomato, and others. We belong to the vast, growing population of platform workers in India who are considered independent contractors, yet we do not have job security, income stability, or social protection. Our significant contribution to the nation's economy is largely unrecognised and invisible. Our approach is to address the needs of gig workers as labourers, as well as citizens. Our goals are fair compensation, social security, safe working conditions, and the right to collective bargaining. This integrated and holistic view of platform workers has given birth to new and innovative ways to fight exploitation and achieve voice, visibility, and validation.
